Reviews of Microsoft Project

Microsoft Project has been big corporate go to for a reason
Comments: Overall using Microsoft Project has been an easy and efficient way to manage the projects I oversee. It's a breeze to get started and because everyone has to use Microsoft it's easy to connect with team members.
Pros:
I really like the tie in with every other Microsoft product we use in the office. It's been very easy collaborate with the other people on my team and keep everyone on track.
Cons:
I don't love using Microsoft products. Sometimes it feels antiquated and you have to take 2 steps where only 1 should be necessary.
Powerful Project Management
Comments: Our company used Microsoft project for few of the projects and it was easy to use with the team.
Pros:
Microsoft project has the capabilities to include project planning and task tracking .
Cons:
Comparability issues . If team members are using different version of Microsoft project it can lead to compatibility problem.
A useful tool for planning a single project (installed version) with severe limitations in the online version
Comments: MS Project is a reasonably matured software that works well as long as you plan only one project. I could not make it combine several project files into one plan. The online version is - at least for me - not an option to be considered for planning a project.
Pros:
Microsoft Project (in the version that you install on your computer) is a tool that has been around for a long time, and therefore has a number of sophisticated features and menus that many more modern tools don't offer.
Cons:
At least in theory, MS Project can link several separate projects from different locations. In theory, I did not manage to get this link done, but rather my application crashed. The reason can be that I did something wrong and that other users can make this work, in that case I would say it is not intuitive and has pitfalls. A MAJOR weakness of MS Project in the online version is that I could not make MS Project display the name of a task in the Gantt chard next to or within the displayed bar. Our project plans consist of a huge number - in some cases more than a hundred - hierarchical tasks where many of them are linked to predecessors so we end up with a complicated plan of a huge number of bars in the Gantt chart that are connected by many arrows. However, without seeing the name of the task next to the bar, the user has to move his eyes to the far left of the monitor to read the text and learn what the bar means. If your eye accidentally skips a row while doing this, you get confused. I believe that because of that (and many other features that are missing compared to the installed version of MS Project) the online version of MS Project - at least for my purposes - is useless.

Pros:
its ability to organize complex projects with clarity, from timelines to resource allocation. Its Gantt chart visualization makes tracking progress intuitive and efficient. Plus, its integration with other Microsoft tools ensures seamless collaboration.
Cons:
The interface feels outdated, and navigating complex projects can sometimes feel clunky. Additionally, it lacks the flexibility and ease of use found in some modern project management tools.

Simple Scheduling Tool with Limited Functions
Comments: It's a good tool to use for small projects. It's easy for non-professionals to get on hand quickly. However it doesn't have enough functions to handle complex requirements. For some serious scheduling work you still have to use P6.
Pros:
MS Project is a user friendly tool. The price is not too high. It could be a scheduling tool for individuals and small companies.
Cons:
The functions are limited. It's too flexible, similar to excel, which makes it hard to maintain the schedule structure.
Easily Accessible
Comments: Very positive, very easily accessible. Finding and learning everything was a blast.
Pros:
It was easily accessible and if I had any questions, I just hit the help button and ask. It gives you step by step instructions.
Cons:
It is very complex and harder to learn for someone who is "old school".
Easy and Quick for Project Management

Not the most powerful, but also not super spimple

Pros:
User-friendly interface, Organizing your projects, Time management made easy and do not have to spend so-much time and auto suggestion of several options for all Microsoft projects, Compatibility with other tools Effective budget and cost management, Timely project completion Great flexibility and custom fields, Progress tracking and reporting etc.. Another benefit of the MS Project is the fact it enables back up of files and documents and is cheaper to implement.
Cons:
A major disadvantage is its not effort-able by the small enterprises & individual users
Review of Microsoft Project
Comments: My overall experience with Microsoft Project has been positive. It's a powerful tool for managing complex projects, offering detailed features like task scheduling, resource allocation, and progress tracking. While the learning curve was initially steep, once I became familiar with its functionality, it significantly enhanced my project management efficiency. The real-time collaboration and reporting features also helped streamline communication and keep projects on track toward successful completion.
Pros:
What I liked most about Microsoft Project is its robust project management capabilities. The software provides an intuitive interface for planning, scheduling, and tracking tasks, which makes it easier to manage even complex projects efficiently. Its Gantt chart visualization is particularly useful for gaining a clear overview of project timelines, task dependencies, and milestones. I also appreciate the ability to collaborate with team members in real time, ensuring that everyone stays on the same page. Additionally, the resource management features help optimize workload distribution and monitor project costs, making it an essential tool for ensuring project success.
Cons:
What I liked least about Microsoft Project is its steep learning curve, especially for beginners. The interface can be overwhelming, and it takes time to understand the full range of features. Additionally, the software can be expensive, especially for small teams or individuals, and lacks seamless integration with some third-party tools, which can limit overall flexibility.

Pros:
As a civil engineer, using this software around 3 years for project management and monitoring purposes. This software facilitates the most precious platform to interpret the tasks and milestones of your projects and also the timeframe of the project. So it is very easy to monitor and track your projects timely through MS project.

Stay on top of your tasks with Microsoft Project
Pros:
Microsoft Project is really convenient to used compared to other programs. It is extremely popular as a project management tool and allows for me to easily share files with others who also use the tool to stay organized.
Cons:
I would like for the software to be a one time cost instead of an annual subcription which is really costly over time.

What to look for when choosing a PM software
Comments: I did enjoy using the software for a while but I've added another to handle certain projects.
Pros:
Well I like that you can start off simple and then you slowly add more things to any project as it grows. You can track multiple projects at time which is a good if you have a lot of clients.
Cons:
When I first started using the software back in 2006 things where simple. Now if you are a beginner you must watch video to get familiar with the new changes.
Review about Microsoft Project
Comments: We found that the software was effective and helped keep teams on track, as well as helping understanding of the goals and project tasks.
Pros:
MS Project is great for project planning! It allows you to break the work up into tasks and sub-tasks each with resources, dependencies, start and end dates. Also, it allows you to visualize the critical path.
Cons:
I think they should provide the general package of the software. Also the cost of license is a bit high for the students to use it. Except for this it is one of the best softwares for Project Management purpose.
Magnificent Project Manager

Project tracking made easy

Pros:
the dashboard allows for creating projects and managing tasks easily
Cons:
the learning curve can be a bit steep and as it is mircosoft it doesn't work great on MACs
Easiest project management tool
Pros:
One of the best project management tool i have ever used, its very easy to leaarn and doesnt requires much time to learn when you are a new bee. I like two main features like Gantt chart and WBS, this makes project planning effective.
Cons:
At times sync betwween central server is slow and it takes time to reflect on other systems. One more thing , it misses the compare feature , for example i want to migrate my existing project maually to a new system. Then i will perform a export function and save a .mpp file. When this file is imported to new system , i would expect two windows of the project, to compare and cross check that import has been performed correctly.

Efficiently saves time when planning and collaborating on projects.
Comments: It is a industry based commercial software with too many user interface. Overall it is a very good software. If anyone can master this software, the project management will be very easy for him/her.
Pros:
It is a very good software for Project Management work. Without a doubt, the software excels with its intuitive user interface, powerful planning tools, and strong resource management features
Cons:
If the prices can be reduced a little bit then the small startup company can use it seamlessly.
