Software of the future!!

5.0 last year

Comments: Before Square I had sleepless nights, no time with my children, no me time and I was always worried that I was missing something pertaining to my business. When I was introduced to Square my life has forever changed. My smile returned and my children have their mom back!!

Pros:

As a single mother of 5 I live a hectic and stressful life. With Square point of sale I can focus more on my family since I know I have a software that practically runs my business for me.

Cons:

I have nothing negative to say except why wasn’t this software around a lot sooner.

Square is super user friendly!

5.0 2 months ago New

Comments: I am super happy with Square. I have been using it for years at my office job and for personal sales at home!

Pros:

I like that I can customize my items and organize them by category on the main screen. I also like that it shows my inventory amounts and alerts me when we are low. I can do EVERYTHING on the home screen!

Cons:

I was not happy with the process of adding inventory. I found it a little complicated. However, the how to instructions are super helpful!

Square has potential to be great

3.0 5 months ago

Comments: Square POS is actually a little complex to build out of you dont have a background in software or IT. For our coffee shops we use alot of modifiers and variations, so it is difficult to sink up the modifiers with the optons if you are building out for the first time. If you are a business without the modifiers it will be much easier.

Pros:

Square POS does exactly what any POS system should do. You upload your items for sale, and you can take payments on your phone, your square reader, or ipad.

Cons:

Square Outages are the absolute worst and they are more frequent than anything. they have put my business at a stand still at least once per quarter. We have had to switch to "off line" mode which also wasnt working. We are a coffee shop and most of our sales are from 7am-9am. We have lost so much money from the outages and good luck getting anyone from customer service. It's non-existent. PLUS the fees you pay are astronomical.

Couldn't do without Square

5.0 3 months ago

Comments: Overall I really can not complain as it provides a simple to use, valuable tool for both small and larger businesses alike

Pros:

As a small business owner Square is a fabulous tool to be able to take credit card payments, create invoices, and so much more. I honestly don't know what I'd do without it.

Cons:

Sometimes, especially when using the desktop (I'm primarily on the app on my phone) it's harder to find things as it doesn't seem to be set up quite the same as the app.

Square POS can make your checkouts so much easier while giving you more insight into your business.

5.0 2 months ago New

Comments: Square has been a godsend. We started using it in 2011 and it has grown so much. The info at your fingertips on sales trends, item sales, customer average spend, etc can make you realize trends or items you didn't realize were popular. now it is more normal to see an iPad as a register, but people were blown away when we started and took away the giant clunky Casio cash registers and marveled at how modern and slick it was.

Pros:

Super easy to use, can train anyone in minutes with the simple touch screen interface compared to trying to teach someone a cats register with all its cryptic buttons and key turns.

Cons:

I wish it was a bit more flexible in the layout of the POS and what buttons could and can't be shown or dragging pages of favorites in different order. The old part is they are always changing and improving so hopefully some if not all will be addresses.

Be Square or Beware

4.0 2 weeks ago New

Comments: I've used Square in a few different roles, primarily in Food Service. I've cashiered and waited using the service.

Pros:

It provides an easy-to-learn, snappy interface which beats the pants off of most others.

Cons:

Updates are harrowing and usually cause a fair number of hiccups.

Very Happy

5.0 2 months ago New

Comments: Overall I am very happy with Square. I would recommend it to all my crafty people who work at markets selling their hand-made goods.

Pros:

I am so happy I discovered square. I don't have the actual card reader, I just use the online payment option. This has been a game changer for my small business. If we are at trade shows/craft fairs, people can now pay with card. I could not even count how many times I miss out on the sale because people are not carrying enough cash. It is so easy to put in the sale amount, enter their card details and complete the sale. The money can be transferred to me in a day or two. Not bad fee either. Very reasonable.

Cons:

I would say the only thing I wish would be better is having a faster turn around time to have the money in my bank account. It is still very reasonable, but same day would be better.

Square is easy to deploy, and makes POS a breeze.

5.0 last year

Comments: I am happy with Square POS. And I recommend it for any mobile consumer services company. Ease of use, set up and customer service is great!

Pros:

Easy set up. The set up tools were not distracting, had a way to see where you are in the process, so you don't miss anything. Ease of deployment. My employees are of varying ages and tech experience. This product was easy to teach to my users. Clients know the name Square. They trust their information is secure. They are also impressed with the NPC ability to tap to pay with our phones.

Cons:

The readers may not be necessary. I thought at the time of setup that I needed 5 readers, so I could have saved myself an initial investment. We are a fully mobile company, so our POS is on our phones. The NPC capability makes the (occasionally glitchy) readers obsolete.

Easy to train and use for high volume

5.0 11 months ago

Comments: We have used square in a high volume music venue for shows and events. We have also used square and the square team for high volume music festivals. We can implement this for the box office as well as the bar sales, while pulling live reports to see how inventory is moving and track sales trends throughout the event.

Pros:

I like how intuitive it is for any new user. Having multiple screens easily navigable is helpful in high volume bar sales.

Cons:

Setting up new items and inputting them into a proper category can be lengthy to keep them organized and not having too many "type" of items. If you do not do this process 100% in the first step then your inventory will get out of control very fast.

Outdated and frustrating to integrate

2.0 last year

Comments: Frustrating generally, trying to integrate with online systems like Wordpress or quickbooks is not what it should be. These aren't small or niche softwares that are trying to be integrated, Square seems to be living in the software of 10-20 years ago.

Pros:

It takes payments for customers and manages inventory levels for customers.

Cons:

Total pain to integrate with other bits of software, really outdated on premises software that doesn't play well with online solutions.

Square Point of Sale helps you manage your daily operations

5.0 5 months ago

Comments: Square Point of Sale made managing my daily sales items sold reporting, sales-tax, tips, and credit card sales a very easy task. Monthly and annual reports were also easy to review which mad tax reporting easier.

Pros:

I like the option of the menu where you can have specific items on the screen rather than having to scroll through a list. Also using the options worked great for my coffee shop. I could press the Latte button, and had all the options including add-on prices automatically add without having to add up the cost and then enter the price.

Cons:

I would like the option of more, but smaller buttons on the main menu. I had discount buttons also programmed (teacher’s and police) because I was near a school and gave teachers a 10% discount, and also gave uniformed police and firefighters a 30% discount, which took two product items off the main menu.

Square works really well for small businesses to start taking card payments fast.

4.0 4 months ago

Comments: I really like Square for a simple solution to taking credit card payments for small businesses.

Pros:

It is easy to use and works well for small businesses, both services and retail.

Cons:

Sometimes it can be pretty glitchy. Getting various aspects of the app set up are not always intuitive. There is zero customer support, so you are very much on your own if something doesn't make sense.

Dont expect great support

3.0 last year

Comments: I've been up and down every channel I can to resolve an issue centered around a dispute a customer filed. For starters, this customer should have been refunded but my team never hit the refund button. Once I saw the dispute, I immediately ACCEPTED it. This was on October 10th. Fast forward to Nov 20th and the customer has not seen any money refunded. After 5 different calls with support and having the issue escalated, two different calls with our representative - I was told the same response "Square has been informed that the disputed payment should be credited back to the cardholder’s account. Please refer your customer to their bank for more information on when to expect the credit." Each time the customer called his bank and was told "there is no communication from Square nor are there any pending deposits or transactions" Each time, I called back and asked for a transaction number, or some information that proves the transfer of funds from Square to customer's bank has been made - each time same response. After asking to speak higher up each time - "there is nothing I can do beyond this" is the response. Zero opportunity to escalate. I was patient and clear with each call, asking kindly but stating the importance of my issue and how it impacts my business, except on the 6th call - I got heated and begged for help. Now this is no small transaction, it's $4,238 of our customers money. This customer has been patient but has threatened my business, not Square, but my business and has demanded I refund his money - the same money Square already deducted from our account. I've asked for escalation multiple times, asking for simple transaction data to help my case and save my business from this headache - 1-2 day wait, same response. I've called out the [sensitive content hidden] and the Company on LinkedIn asking, pleading for help. Nothing. All i've heard is "I'm sorry this is a challenging situation for you, but I can't help you any further" - then get hung up on. I've been a Square customer for 7 years, processing over $1M in transactions on this platform and still - no luck in getting information. Now I'll have to shell out another $4,238 on top of the $4,238 Square already deducted from my account to settle this customer and save my business headache. If you don't care about getting thoughtful support, or data you need when you're in a bind - Square may be good for you, but if you need want support - I do not recommend. I've tried up and down every channel I can get and was shut down each time. No luck. I'm switching to something else for sure. Sad to see this happen.

Pros:

Nice POS System for our customer interface

Cons:

Customer Support is not great, cannot get you info when you need it. Slow to respond.

Invaluable service

2.0 12 months ago

Comments: I wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy. They're cuurently holding funds, while constantly trying to draw from my account, claiming I owe them money, but give no proof. Customer service claims they can't give me answers for lack of access to account information. They claimed they escalated, but never heard from them, while they continue to try and draft my account.

Pros:

It's something you can use to help get the ball rolling with your business

Cons:

Hidden fees and probably the most poor customer service I've dealt with in a very long time. Heavily loacking communication

Amazing Customer Service

5.0 last year

Comments: Overall I like Square. We integrated with Thrive by Shopventory earlier this year so I can use woocommerce for our website, which makes me even happier!

Pros:

I feel like the past year, I 've contact more companies for help than any other time in my life. We've been using Square since 2016. I like them, it's user friendly and fairly intuitive, not sure I would have raved about them before though. This year I've had three instances that I reach out to Square customer service, every one of them was a fairly good experience, but the last one was really great! I had a customer return something she bought as a gift for her sister, over the next few months she called several times complaining that we never refunded her money. The last time, I wasn't there and she came in during an event, when we were busy, claiming we stole money from her. When I found out, I reach out to square, provided them with all of the transaction information, the gentleman I spoke with initially just wanted to tell me that the money was sent to her. When I explained that she claimed her bank had no record of the refund coming back to her, he looked into it further and gave me a transaction code for her to give her bank. When we called to give it to her, she got annoyed because it was such a long code, but her bank must have cleared it up because she brought someone else into the shop a week later, acting like nothing ever happened. It's reassuring to know they have those details on hand to help in a situation like that.

Cons:

Some of the features cost extra, which can be a bummer. The Square-Woocommerce plugin for wordpress is horrible, I want more control than their

Easy POS for Small Business management

5.0 last year

Comments: I've had a great experience with Square POS. The square reader has made mobile payments a breeze and the receipts are very clear to read.

Pros:

The user-friendly interface and simplicity of the program keep managing a business simple. Easy to create an order/invoice and check out.

Cons:

Worst customer service and company that I've ever dealt with.

1.0 last year

Comments: Horrible and worst experience with a company ever

Pros:

It was always just ok until I was unable to process orders due to my account not working.

Cons:

Worst customer service and company that I've ever dealt with. As a business owner, you deal with a lot of different companies and this is by far the worst company for POS systems. When you have any issues with their software and online program they are impossible to talk to and then put you on hold just to tell you that it is your fault and you need to contact google, apple, or other businesses to fix their problem. Do not use for any reason. I have 3 of my companies with them currently but I will be canceling my service with all of them.
