The software works well and is highly extensible. I doubt you'll need functionality they don't offer, either through the core package or through one of the many add-ons they have available. There are many payment gateways supported, for instance, so collecting funds is easy. Since each event is a post, you can combine events with standard WordPress functionality, such as assigning the post to a category, to make it easier for your site visitors to filter events and find the event they are looking for. The core package includes many options for sending automatic emails to users as they register for events. Add-ons let you extend the core package to work for letting users enroll in sessions at an event, such as a conference, on site. This is a very mature WordPress plugin, with robust customer support and superb documentation. I've never not been able to find the answer to question I have had about using the software. > > **Cons**: The cost. Too many features are sold as add-ons that I feel should be included in the core product. For instance, integration with WordPress users (the ability for Event Espresso to allow a user's site registration be their Event Espresso registration) is a for-cost add-on. That that is not included in the core is a huge miss and leaves one thinking that Event Espresso is nickel-and-diming its customers. The trouble is, this is great software and I have not found another product that offers all the features I need, so I have no choice but to keep paying. > > To be fair, Event Espresso does offer discounts on renewal (licenses to the core and add-ons are annual subscriptions) so the overall cost is somewhat softened after the high initial cost. And the software works really well and is frequently updated to ensure compatibility with the most recent versions of WordPress.
