I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a good database.There are many things to fall in love with Oracle Database 12c, but some of the most notable features for me are:-The ability to store and manage data in a cloud-based environment-The introduction of Oracle Multitenant, which allows multiple databases to be run on a single server-The inclusion of Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC), which provides high availability and scalability-The addition of Oracle Active Data Guard, which allows for real-time standby databases-The ability to encrypt data at rest and in motion-The introduction of Oracle Database In-Memory, which allows for blazing fast query performance

> **Pros**: Oracle Database 12c provides all the features of a Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) with the capability of integrating its services with prominent cloud providers using the SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS models. I really like the seamless integration between Oracle database and Java. It simplifies the development greatly and allows a single JDBC code to be executed in the exact same fashion against the database whether from JSP/Java Servlet server code or from a Java desktop application.

> **Cons**: Oracle is sometimes laggy on limited-resource computers which makes our job in academia a bit difficult. But with the generous options from the Oracle Cloud, things are getting more manageable for testing and development using the Oracle Database 12c platform.

> **Cons**: the new optimizer sometimes get confused and cause performance issues. DBA will still need to work on performance tuning. Plus, the new optimizer is not compatible with 11g or older versions

> **Cons**: The database software from Oracle is expensive for small to medium sized enterprises with a kind of intricate licensing process. Having that said, I do faithfully believe that the cost is justified taking the smart algorithms employed in the software into consideration.

> **Pros**: Really love the features of 12C, especially clustering which requires zero downtime for maintenance activities. We used 12C on on PROD clusters.

> **Cons**: The service that Oracle provides is bad. For the price we pay , the service is not up to the mark . There have been many instances where urgent issues due to patch failures were not fixed on time, only because the resolution offered by Oracle was not satisfactory

> We used it on on main Production databases and the supporting environments, and though the DBMS is quite reliable, it was not a very smooth process to use 12C. There are better alternatives priced cheaper
