The industry standard

5.0 3 years ago

Comments: Honestly, I love Excel. The truth is, once you unlock the various features there is very little you can't do. For fun I've created a dynamic resume', a slide presentation and even a couple of games inside Excel just to see if I could.

Pros:

Excel's greatest value is its ability to be many things for many people. I would say 90% of the people I've seen use Excel only use about 10% of its capabilities, and it's great for that. People are making quick budgets, schedules, to-do lists and even recipes books with excel and don't need many "pro" features for that. Then there are the people who use it for contact management and data-processing, I've even seen an Excel instance that used extensive scripting to handle CRM, inventory and mail-merge marketing. I don't suggest it, but if you really want to get into it, it's very possible. I'd say the greatest advantage of using Excel is that it's the industry standard for spreadsheets. If send someone an excel sheet you can bet that they will have a way to open it.

Cons:

For cons, it does annoy me a bit that the Mac version isn't nearly as good as the Windows version. It's not surprising, of course, but it is annoying. I use Excel on different platforms and operating systems and the difference is striking. Also, if you do plan on getting in the weeds with excel for business intelligence and data processing, you can literally spend years studying ti and getting proficient with the all of the capabilities. And finally, it can be a huge processor hog and slow down everything else on your computer if you aren't careful. Even a simple spreadsheet with a simple formula involving whole columns can suddenly bring a stop to your workday.

The Go-To is still the most capable

4.0 2 years ago

Comments: I enjoy using and learning more about Excel. There are so many ways in which to use it that no review can truly capture the breadth and depth of its capability. When it is frustrating it is because of an inability of process or lack of me as a user being able to achieve what i know to be possible and thus I approach it as a puzzle to be unpacked.

Pros:

Excel is a versatile spreadsheet application that continues to benefit from its age, the weight and momentum behind it, and the continued focus on it as core Office app. The variety of applications of this application are what continue make it a winner.

Cons:

Stemming from the same positive attributes of its age and flexibility are the downsides to its age and flexibility - its overlapping years of feature additions and subtractions to the building more on top of pre-existing structures mean that somethings need to be unpacked in order to work how you'd like them too and the robustness of the product can be daunting. Knowing that you'll never know ALL that it is capable of and that the best way to achieve anything is to picture it and then hunker down for an evening of searching and learning.

The software for managing your data, calculations, and analyses.

5.0 last month New

Comments: Excel is a calculation and management software that I highly recommend, especially for businesses. I have been using it for at least 2 years, and I believe it is the best software that Microsoft has offered.

Pros:

Excel is considered one of the best software for management, and I particularly enjoy the built-in formulas and functions that allow me to perform complex calculations and analyses quickly. The formulas can handle arithmetic operations, statistics, filtering, and even graphing.

Cons:

From my point of view, Excel doesn't have any drawbacks but rather several advantages. It allows for task automation and the development of custom applications, and it even integrates with other Office applications.

My review on Microsoft Excel

3.0 2 years ago

Comments: The principal project that I truly scholarly a great deal about Excel in was building an accounting page to track and plan my course enrollments with as a rookie in school. I needed to figure my aggregate GPA and GPA by term, and I needed to design the entirety of the courses I would take every semester from my first semester in school to my final remaining one. By that point I realized how to utilize rotate tables and some other information decrease recipes, yet I didn't actually have a clue how to utilize query works yet. I assembled a large portion of that bookkeeping page around a capacity to naturally ascertain letter grades dependent on rates, and afterward essential SUM capacities for the GPA computations. The subsequent case was for designing and cleaning a humungous fix of information in my last semester of school. 32 cycle Excel wasn't made for the errand I was utilizing it for around there, however it worked effectively with some content cleanup that I would not like to figure out how to do utilizing standard articulations somewhere else. This experience was and stays educational for me. I learned more a long time of doing those undertakings than my companions who took classes to learn Excel.

Pros:

Colossal degree as Excel has mathematical and literary capacities; you can add hyperlinks and pictures thus significantly more. Numerous sheets can assist it with acting practically like a social information base when joined with separating and arranging capacities. Mistake catching should be possible utilizing.

Cons:

The one fundamental hindrance of the extent of MS Excel is that an excessive number of individuals are self trained and the manner in which they have made the accounting page is undocumented so over the long run individuals attempt to alter and present mistakes. Naming cells makes formulae more significant and simpler to fathom. I once attempted to figure out an accounting page individuals had been utilizing for a very long time and found there was an entire section of qualities incorrectly being remembered for an equation. Somebody had been advised to erase a section however they had quite recently concealed it from see so every one of the qualities were all the while being included messing genuine up. Knowing the contrast between concealing qualities and erasing them is quite major.

Excel Review

Comments: I use Excel on a daily basis and I wouldn't have it any other way. I'd highly recommend Excel to anyone. Most versatile software out there.

Pros:

What I've always liked most about Excel is its sheer versatility. From crunching numbers and creating sophisticated formulas to crafting visually appealing charts and graphs, Excel can handle it all. It's been my reliable companion throughout my data analysis journey, making complex tasks feel manageable and delivering valuable insights.

Cons:

What I've found most challenging about Microsoft Excel is its limitations when dealing with extremely large datasets. While it's great for many tasks, handling massive volumes of data can sometimes lead to slower performance and increased resource usage.

Excel in business.

5.0 3 weeks ago New

Comments: Product management and accounting are the biggest business problems I'm solving with Excel. Since my business involves working with huge data sets, Excel has made my work smooth. Complex calculations are now easy to solve while things like market trends and patterns are easy to spot with the Filter/Sort functions thanks to Excel.

Pros:

Excel surely gives you true value for money. Its ease of use as well as its always-available customer support team is what makes it stand out for me.

Cons:

I noticed that sometimes it wouldn't prompt me when I made an error during data entry. This was mostly when dealing with huge data volumes. It's therefore safe to say that there's much to be done before it becomes sensitive to human error.

The best spreadsheet application in existence

5.0 12 months ago

Comments: Excel offers spreadsheet fans of any level a tremendous lot of enjoyment, but it has given us more than we can chew at this point in time. You are need to go through extensive training in order to use all of its capabilities. Excel is similar to my handback. I take it with me wherever I go. Nowadays, the solution to any question may be found in a spreadsheet. I've progressed from simple addition and subtraction formulae to developing Macros, executing queries with Power Query, Pivot tables, and much more in Excel. Excel is an essential tool in my job as an accountant and data analyst. Despite having used this for many years, there is still so much to learn, and I am always discovering new recipes on YouTube and forums. What you can accomplish with Excel is limitless.

Pros:

Power query, Power Pivot, Pivot tables, and pivot charts have been my favorite tools in excel. Macros and the all new LAMBA functions are spicing up my everyday experience with excel. There are a lot of things to love about excel if you take some time to learn it. Array formulas have been scary in excel, but In excel 2021, they implemented spilled arrays which has made the fun more enjoyable. I just love excel.

Cons:

There is limitation on the amount of data a spreadsheet can hold. Excel is limited to about a million rows. If you are not familiar with cube formulas or pivot tables, it will be difficult to go above this limitation.

Excel is still the most reliable spreadsheet and vital business tool for every organization

5.0 3 years ago

Comments: Excel is a great tool for users who work on large amounts of data and can handle complex calculations with 100% accuracy. It allows you to create pivot tables, sort, retrieve and analyze data, perform macros in VBA, build charts, tables, and many more features in a breeze! As an Accountant by profession, Excel has always been my best buddy throughout my career progression up until now and it never ceases to amaze me about the powerful features that I’ve yet to discover and utilize for more productivity and efficiency in my work. My top favorite Excel features are the following:
- Scalable formula and calculation functions (IF, SUMIF, VLOOKUP, INDEX-MATCH, etc.): Excel allows you to extend the formula up, down, across the spreadsheet. You just need to create the formula once in one cell and Excel will help you to populate the formula in the designated rows/columns in your report.
- Excel shortcut keys: it dramatically increases my productivity by using these tricks. It makes you look like a Pro and believe me, anyone will get intimidated when they see you typing so fast without using any mouse!
- Conditional formatting: it makes your data more sophisticated and visually appealing to the users of the information.
- Pivot tables: works like a magic when reviewing hundreds of thousands or even millions of data in one spreadsheet.
- Paste special: copy+paste from one source to your spreadsheet with options of maintaining the formatting, value, comments, or even formula.

Pros:

- Able to organize voluminous data into orderly, logical spreadsheets and charts - Allows simple to complex formula and calculations quickly regardless of the amount of data - Microsoft Office and Google sheet integration

Cons:

- Learning curve; it takes a lot of practice and training in order to advance your Excel skills. - Calculation errors; Excel will never know whether the data you inputted is correct or not. - Expensive cost of entry; Google sheets is free

Excel Is A Very Powerful Tool

5.0 3 years ago

Comments: Many thumbs up!!!

Pros:

This software is built to support the simplest to the most complex requirements needed in the workplace. Before becoming a Facilities Officer I worked as an energy engineer in the solar energy field for more than five years. My colleagues and I were not only required to undertake technical tasks such as conducting site assessments, but we were also embedded in a sales driven environment. Weekly reports had to be submitted about the sales potential that were garnered from customers we interacted with, thereby keeping track of all the quotes that were sent out, and track whether they resulted in actual sales or not. Each of these had to be entered into an excel spreadsheet and tabulated somewhat manually every week and categorized by product type. This was a daunting task and none of us enjoyed doing this. I thought that Xcel ld have the necessary functions so I brought my home with me one weekend, and did my research. After more than 15 hours doing so I was able to create a far better spreadsheet that made the work extremely simple. The formulas that Excel had searched a master sheet by sales rep name, the amount and product type for each quote. Sub tabs were created, one for each rep. By typing in a start date and end date our manager/supervisor was provided with all the details to take to the weekly management meetings Later on, in less than a year that document guided the developer to create a web based sales tracking software which extended beyond my department and branch

Cons:

Nothing is lacking as far as simple to the most complex use. I still use this software on a daily basis as a FACILITIES officer now, to keep track of my budget and maintenance works for various amenities such as the generator, pumping systems, air conditioning systems and also Excel was great and one of the most efficient software that was and still being used to keep track of all of the companies fixed assets prior to entering into a register. I have no issues with Excal at all. It will always have its place within various if not all workplace functions.

Often Underappreciated Beyond Offices

5.0 4 years ago

Comments: Overall, I think the learning curve on Excel makes many people hesitant to try it unless they see it as necessary for their profession. However, the basics of Excel really doesn't have much of a learning curve. The advanced stuff, yes has a learning curve (though not too bad), but the basics are pretty quick and easy to pick up.

Pros:

I use Excel regularly - sometimes for its intended functions like calculations and personal business organization, as well as sometimes just an easy way to keep track of things visually by assigning it different colors and locations. Many of my calculations are quick-and-easy numbers where it's easier to make a quick plot on excel than type everything out on a calculator. Other times I've made very extensive sheets to organize a lot of data and perform calculations for special projects. I find Excel useful for organizing and presenting data. There is a learning curve to understanding how to program it to perform different functions and calculations, but once you've gotten the hang of it then it is pretty easy to set things up to perform live calculations as you adjust your data. More advanced features include getting cells to change color based on the numbers or letters appearing in either that cell or others. Since I'm a very visual person, color coding is very helpful for me. And of course it is easy to convert your data into charts and graphs.

Cons:

When you type a formula incorrectly, excel's error messages aren't always very helpful in understanding what the error is. There is no way to exit out of the cell containing the error without either fixing it or deleting all the text inside and starting over later after you've figured out what you did wrong the first time. Creating graphs and charts isn't always as intuitive as it could be. Sometimes I've had to struggle a bit to get the data I want to appear along the axis I want in the correct intervals. It would also be nice if the chart would automatically adopt whatever color coding I used in the data cells so that I wouldn't have to manually modify the default colors. For some of the more advanced functions, the editor can get very clunky. For instance, I did a sheet once where I had it return a different string of text for whichever number in a range was entered. This quickly became a very unwieldy mass of code in a single cell that was difficult to edit in the small text box and caused some lag in the program. It's also annoying that when using search, I am limited to searching one sheet at a time instead of the whole workbook. I'd like to see more options to customize the location and parameters of my search.

Best software which makes my life easier

5.0 4 years ago

Comments: I've been using Excel from my collage up to now, it means more than 10 years. Still I couldn't find any better substitute which can replace Excel. Now I use Excel at both my work and also for my personal stuff. All the formulas, pivots, connections are really helpful for the business use. Same time I use Excel for my personal purposes such as an expense tracker and a budget planner. If you can become an expert on Excel its gonna really help you to build your confidence at work and also to do your work faster than the others. All Time Best Spreadsheet Software.

Pros:

Well, I would just say Everything, but to more specific, I really love to work in the Excel by using short keys, it helps you to speed your work. Then it would be the formulas and the most useful would be vlookup/hlookup. Those are the things which makes my life easier on a daily basis. I usually don't even open the calculator no matter how simple the calculation is, it will always be Excel. Also I really love the Pivots and tables which are really cool, accurate and nice. Also everything can be customized in the exact way we wanted. Same time its very secure, you can protect the worksheet or the book. Having all these great features I use Excel even for any documentation needs instead of Word.

Cons:

Am just a normal user who used Excel at work and also for my personal analysis/documentation purposes. But I'm not an Excel pro who knows Macro and all that. Hence this software satisfies all my needs, so I cant think of any cons at the moment provided that I don't even get the maximum out of this amazing software. The only issue I have here in Excel is there is no inbuilt auto correction or a grammar, spell checker. I know we can always use F7 for that but it would be great if it is possible to underline the missed spell words by the the time we are typing them.

The tool that makes management EASIER

5.0 2 years ago

Comments: Regarding this advanced management tool, I admit that it allows to manage the IT flows of the different transactions within an organization, it was able to revolutionize initially the industrial world as well as develop the Supply Chain Management of different companies.
Personally, I was able to carry out initially several management tables whether for the stock, for the vehicle fleets (maintenance, fuel ... etc).
And then I started to realize optimization models based on Operational Research.
And finally, I ended up using the developer section (Visual Basic) in order to be able to automate the various tables produced, keep the flow traceable as well as avoid the typing errors that can happen.

Pros:

In my opinion, there are 3 main advantages for excel users: 1)Progressed Data Organization : Dominate has quite possibly the absolute most complete datum association and investigation frameworks for the normal customer. All things considered, it works for most business applications as well. Utilizing the force of your PC, Excel can undoubtedly deal with a great many information recipes and additionally calculations rather consistently. In the event that you have numerous sheets which are interlinked, the equations and information association are unmatched. 2)Underlying Formulas : Before, Excel had recipes for pretty much every application under the sun. In that capacity, clients quickly fell head over heels for the straightforwardness of the attachment and-play interface as it assisted them with making delightful accounting pages in the blink of an eye. Throughout the long term, Excel has reliably added more implicit recipes as clients have mentioned. Obviously, these recipes are not restrictive, as they are only numerical of configuration, which means these equations could be utilized in other programming stages as well. 3)Outsider Support Lastly, Excel can work with outsider projects through particular connectors. Since Excel is based on the .NET stage, it coordinates well with nearly whatever is based on a similar stage. Accordingly, admittance to information or potentially other programming stages has expanded massively throughout the lon

Cons:

Despite these advantages, there are 3 major desadvantages 1)Steep Expectation to learn and adapt : Excel is a genuinely muddled framework. To utilize it productively, you must have the option to explore through the UI which is considerably more convoluted than in its unique plan. In past plans, clients had the option to simply point and click and assembled lovely bookkeeping pages. In any case, Microsoft has added a plenty of provisions throughout the long term that now I must be gotten to through different scenes or potentially dropdowns. Doing this has made a smidgen of disarray and even eliminate a few components that individuals were content with. 2)Cost : Microsoft Office and Dominate had never been free, however the cost was significantly more sensible before. As Microsoft has kept on investing huge loads of time and energy into their Office suite, the expenses have risen significantly. Before, you could buy the product for as modest as $19.95 each year; that essentially isn't the case any longer. Presently, the expense can undoubtedly overshadow $45.99 each year for a downloadable duplicate and $99.99 for a cloud-based contribution. While this isn't heinous, it is cost-restrictive for an office brimming with PCs. Restricted Joint effort: Completing out the impediments for Dominate, it's anything but a community oriented framework (essentially not innately). Microsoft w

Spreadsheets with Power

5.0 4 years ago

Comments: Excel has been my go to for financial statement preparation (as an accountant). I have used it for the accumulation of tax data and preparation of tax forms. At one point, I programmed Excel spreadsheets to do many of its own functions for these very forms. Today, I continue to use Excel as a way to track data for the church I serve. I use it for time tracking, information gathering and formatting, and to track the data I maintain of people and thing in the church.

Pros:

I would consider myself to be a professional Excel user. I have been using Excel for more than 20 years and I cannot see using any other type of spreadsheet software. I started with Lotus (a predecessor of Excel) and have not looked back when Excel became the software to use. I am also one of those people who takes to using new technology relatively quickly. Excel provides so much in the way of capability that there are some aspects of Excel that I am not familiar with, even though I am no longer a daily user. The help function (the question mark in a box) is very user friendly and there are also many help topics that reside within the software. If you are asking a really tough or programming question, there are also online forums for those who would be considered power users. For those who are simply in need of a place to gather information and make some simple calculations, I also would not look any further than Excel. With the Microsoft 365 subscription, you get all of the most recent updates and functionality without the high price of buying the software license each time the software gets an upgrade.

Cons:

The only con would be if you purchase the full license. When you subscribe through Office 365, you get all the latest updates without having to purchase a new license each time. If you are not familiar with spreadsheets, Excel's functions and tool bars can be a bit daunting to look at. But, if you take some time and familiarize yourself with them, they are quite logical in their layout and functions. You can also customize the toolbar to include the functions you need the most. It just takes a little time to do so.

The Legend

5.0 5 years ago

Comments: I am my startup company's primary financial and market analyst and also have a background in the finance industry, so I have used Excel almost everyday for years and continue to do so. While I don't consider myself a true power user, I have a fair amount of miles on the clock with Excel. It's truly matchless in its versatility, which is why I like it. The more modern convenience features that I enjoy (the OneDrive/SharePoint integration comes to mind) and others that I could take or leave (enhanced help options) are nice adds, but they also make my machine run like a jet ski on gravel when I have a large file, so I'm more mixed on those than I'd like to be. Overall, though, an indispensable tool for any analyst.

Pros:

How does one even begin to write a review of a software program as ubiquitous, and indeed genre-defining, as MS Excel? For that reason, I'll focus this review on my experience of moving form Excel 2013 to the O365 version of Excel 2016. The new autosave feature and its nearly seamless integration with OneDrive/SharePoint stand out to me as truly excellent additions for use in a business setting. It provides for excellent collaboration and provides peace of mind for data security as well. Beyond that, it's still the same extremely versatile tool it's always been.

Cons:

On the other side of the coin, the new features mentioned above and many of the new automatic tooltips and help features are a little cumbersome and seem to bog the program down sometimes, especially on my ultra-portable work PC, which is obviously a little down on power compared to a conventional full size laptop or desktop. Some way to lightweight some the functionality would be greatly appreciated, especially to avoid eating the battery when I'm on the go.

Excel for Small, Medium and Large Organizations

5.0 3 years ago

Comments: On the overall, I have more than an excellent experience with Ms Excel. I love it.

Pros:

Ms Excel is a very cheap yet powerful spreadsheet tool for data manipulation and analysis that produce information that can be used for planning, budgeting and forecasting. Its sorting and filtering, charts and graph, data formatting features help to fine tune data manipulation. Programmers can also use the list feature to ensure that only certain values are entered into those formatted cells. The availability of different currencies is an added advantage. Excel can also be interfaced with Ms Word, Access, PowerPoint and even Ms SQL. The benefit of importing plain text files and converting them to cell values by separator text in those files is something else. I was also able to export the data in Excel to an Access database I worked on for a small sales shop. One great thing about Excel is that it can accept data from scanning devices instead typing obscure data, you can simply scan it into the cells. Linear Problem Programming (LPP) and Project Chart Diagramming is possible with Excel. What more can you ask for? Did I fail its data security features. I was able to restrict user access to certain portions of programmed sheet, plus I I can password the entire file to ensure additional security to the file by scrupulous or malicious individuals. I had it setup on a SharePoint for a shop with different terminals to ensure smooth sales by different sales personnel. Though this required some in dept knowledge.

Cons:

What more could I have asked for in Excel that I didn't get? I used Google sheets but still preferred the regular Microsoft Excel.

Excel does the job just perfect!

5.0 5 years ago

Comments: Handling the day today tasks has become very much easy for me. Why wouldn't it be? With Microsoft Excel hours of my day can be saved and yet the tasks could be done with utmost efficiency and asolutely accurate.

Pros:

The industry standard spreadsheet Excel has made my life much easier. I use Excel at least 3 times a day. From organising my daily schedule, budgets, calorie charts to fulfill my academic errands of simple and complex arithmetic functions. Excel has proved to be user friendly and is being constantly updated. The versatile functionalities of Excel has simplified even the complex tricky day today tasks. I find it very convenient that the information can be represented graphically, especially when being shared. The filter system in which information can be filtered using numerals, keywords comes very much handy during quick reference. The suggestions with keywords has simplified the use of Excel further and I found myself using it more often - not to mention the accuracy. Excel can be installed in to your PCs, mac and even your android phones. My life has become much easier with Microsoft Excel and I love it!

Cons:

As much as Excel simplifies complex tasks, understanding certain complex functionalites of Excel is a great challenge. I've messed up big time when it comes to dragging formulas over to a set of data or when copy pasting. Further printing a spread sheet is very difficult, considering that the cell alignments and margins has to be repeatedly adjusted. Sharing large Excel files is a challenge, which seems to be a drawback . Excel should be modified as to being able to reset the password of protected files ; the lack of which is extremely inconvenient.

the god of spreadsheeds softwares

5.0 5 years ago

Comments: I use Excel since the 90's. And as an engineer it is a vital tool for me, so much that I no longer only use it for my work, but I have created spreadsheets even to keep track of what is in my cupboard. Honestly, for me it is already natural to use Excel for any calculation of my daily life.

Pros:

I think I know Microsoft excel since I had my first computer in the 90's and since then it has been my favorite spreadsheet program. It has definitely evolved and improved over the years and now it has millions of functions that it did not have in the 90's and that make Excel the god of spreadsheets. Obviously you can do mathematical calculations associating cells, but it goes much further. You can generate charts of different formats from data from the spreadsheet, do complex calculations and format the sheet to improve its appearance, associate tables to documents or external links and print spreadsheets directly from Excel. It can be a bit overwhelming the first time you face it, but once familiar with the software, it becomes very easy and intuitive. In addition, the office help platform is great and has everything you need to take advantage of all the Excel functionalities to create maybe just a calendar to the organized calculation of your expenses and your monthly budget and the best thing is that you don't have to create the spreadsheet from scratch, because you can look for predesigned formats created by Office to enter up your monthly expenses, the programming of your daily activities, a record of attendances, a list of guests and more ...

Cons:

I think it is still very difficult to format a spreadsheet to go from the computer to the paper. I would like them to improve the printing process, since many times I have had to print a document over and over again and modify the sizes of the cells in a trial and error process to achieve a finished product that is pleasant once printed.

Microsoft Excel is the most advanced and intuitive spreadsheet software there is!

5.0 5 years ago

Comments: I use Microsoft Excel on a daily basis with my online business. One of the main reasons I use it is to keep records of my taxes. I can have multiple sheets that link to each other and allow me to see what my income and expenses are. But I use it for a wide range of other reasons. Whether it's for keeping track of client records or making graphs of key metrics inside my business. MS Excel is a must have for any business owner!

Pros:

The uses of MS Excel are endless! Working within the spreadsheet you can do so many things. For instance, keeping logs or running totals or data. You can then turn that data into various types of graphs. They have so many templates to choose from to get you started. With these templates, you can make budgets, to do lists, planners, calendars, financial reports, loan calculators, resumes, contact lists, financial models, statistical analyses and even keep track of your taxes! I have so many various types of spreadsheets I use. I even created a custom fat loss calculator for my clients! Like I said MS Excels capabilities are endless!

Cons:

One of the things I dislike about MS Excel is it can be expensive when upgrading from an old version to a new version. But for what it does and how much you'll probably use it, it can be worth the cost. Sometimes there are issues when someone with an older version is getting shared data from a newer version. When this happens there can be conflict and the software may not work right. Also, there is somewhat of a learning curve especially when it comes to using formulas. I have had to look up youtube videos numerous times on how to use certain formulas which did take time.

Excel - Make Yourself at Home with Data

4.0 4 years ago

Comments: Microsoft Excel is a daily driver for me. I am constantly working in Excel to either prep data for another program such as Microsoft Power BI, or I am working with and looking at different data reports in the software. I highly recommend Excel as it is far above the competition.

Pros:

The best thing about Excel is you can do so many things with the software. You can easily customize your data and create visuals to share your data's story. The ability to customize and make dynamic reports is great and if you need to really use some power features Excel lets you do that as well. Simply utilizing Power Query opens up a new environment and features to work with your data model. Still can't accomplish what you need then you can use some VBA to get the task done. The best part of Excel is that you can do so many things with the software and you would be hard pressed to find something that Excel doesn't do well. Excel also incorporates into other software and platforms, such as Power BI, really well.

Cons:

One of the cons of excel is that there are really several different coding types you need to learn or at least be familiar with. If you want to do basic things you won't have any problems if you aren't well versed in Excel. However, to really get the job done you need to know all about how to write and structure formulas. If you need to get into the really advanced features you need to know DAX if you are in the Power Query editor, on top of that you need to know VBA if you want to accomplish customized tasks in the VBA window, and then there even macros. So, the worst part of excel is that it isn't uniform in that you need to know multiple coding languages if you want to use many of the advanced features Excel offers.
