Great Starter Software for New Clinicians

5.0 last year

Comments: I love the features and integrations that SimplePractice provides when using medical software for the first time. I was not overwhelmed when I first used it, it was very easy to adapt and play with.

Pros:

I love how simple and easy to use the software is for new mental health professionals adapting to the business management side of mental health services.

Cons:

Billing can be a hassle sometimes if you are just starting off and unfamiliar with the process. Also, reminders can be a little overwhelming, there needs to be a more consistent structure.

SimplePractice is a great platform to run a practice

5.0 5 months ago

Pros:

SimplePractice makes having a private practice SIMPLE. With this software clients can schedule a consultation with you, input credit card information, you can send them the required paperwork, charge them for the invoice and also add clients notes and measurements all in one place.

Cons:

The price is a bit high when starting off, but it is worth it.

Simple Practice bought Luminello - but it is very deficient as an actual Electronic Health (medical) record

2.0 4 months ago

Comments: I am now looking for another Electronic Health Record. One that includes documentation of care for the WHOLE person - including the body...

Pros:

It seems like it has all the bells and whistles for therapy - which is great, when I am only seeing people for therapy (which is rare). But, despite Simple Practice having bought Luminello to add on the medical/psychiatric EHR features, it is woefully inadequate for psychiatric services

Cons:

No vital signs (face it, this was the first thing ever digitized in health care. It is not available in Simple Practice, so you must hand enter vitals - every time.) No ability to include scored measures in a progress note automatically Diagnoses do not appear in progress notes unless they are hand entered No physical exam feature (this is literally available everywhere - but not in SP). No automatic display of medications and prescriptions written. There is no crossover from the medication section (Dr First) and the progress note. Meds are not easily viewed while working on a note and seeing the patient. Portal does not seem to contain education or information shared with patients (like med ed). This info is only available in a chat feature. No lab integration. Of course, you can waste a lot of time inventing your own templates for vitals, H&P, etc. I haven't used the billing feature This is overpriced for what it is. I am not sure what they "bought" from Luminello, other than patient lists and demographic info. Otherwise, it is just Dr First slapped on the back end of a therapy EHR.

Easy-to-Use, Customizable, and Well-Intergrated

5.0 9 months ago

Comments: Overall, this is a great product. I'd just recommend a few minor adjustments and it would be the perfect EHR!

Pros:

I really love the intuitive calendar management. I can 'drag and drop' appointments and can easily set recurrences and move recurring appointments. I also love the 'Load Last Note' feature where I can save time on filling in standard fields and concentrate more on the weekly/bi-weekly changes in information (i.e. client progress, client needs).

Cons:

I would improve the Telehealth app. The Telehealth app seems to malfunction quite frequently when clients are using their phones to join appointments. I have also noticed that my video glitches quite frequently. I would also improve the 'Share' function on Telehealth. It is very hard to screenshare and use it for sharing worksheets and handbooks.

Simple Practice is okay!

4.0 2 months ago

Comments: It was a fair experience but I promptly left after concerns regarding the ownership of data.

Pros:

All of the features that were available and the ability to host a group private practice with the software.

Cons:

The cost of the product, not being able to customize the forms, and the lack of control and ownership of the data.

OK but not awesome

3.0 6 months ago

Comments: Meh....it isn't great, not horrible. Customer service is o.k. but email is their primary form of communication which has held me up and is very frustrating.

Pros:

the two way calendar sync what what I did this for

Cons:

clunky and hard to use. The display isn't great and it sometimes times out and doesn't save my note and I lose it.

I recommend, but if you want to grow, it can get costly

5.0 8 months ago

Comments: Simple practice is very good for a small team or solo practitioner. When you start to get bigger, it might be wise to compare options.

Pros:

Simple practice is simple. That is so helpful for a software. It is much easier to set up than the one we are currently using. I also like the two-way Google calendar integration.

Cons:

If you start to add clinicians, then it gets pricey, simple practice does not differentiate between full-time and part-time clinicians in terms of pricing. So we switched, because adding part-time clinicians was getting too expensive for the software. It is also not a marketing centered software compared to the one we are using now.

Frustrations

1.0 6 months ago

Comments: There are so many things that the programming does without my oversight that have created problems with my clients. I do not like the system invoicing clients without my approval, or billing their credit cards. I have felt that the software is running my practice rather than me.

Pros:

I am sure that there are positive things about this EHR, but at this point I am too disappointed to remember anything.

Cons:

I HATE the fact that the programming removes clients whom I have scheduled on a weekly basis from my schedule without apprising me or the client. On 5 occasions it has appeared that I stood up a client or forgot about them, since they were no longer on my schedule suddenly with no warning.

Would Recommend

4.0 4 months ago

Comments: Overall, I loved SimplePractice and wish I could go back to it.

Pros:

The ease of editing all assessments, notes, treatment plans, etc was FANTASTIC. I also loved how easy it was to adjust appointments in the calendar, send documents to clients, and so much more.

Cons:

The billing became a problem for the group practice I was working at. It was also a problem to have more than one contact on a client profile which was challenging for working with children. I believe this may have been fixed since I left that agency.

Not Simple at all and not worth the time or money

1.0 12 months ago

Comments: It was horrible. I lost an entire year of income trying to figure out the billing features. I had two other colleagues who had the same experience I did and they left simple practice as well.

Pros:

In theory the features that simple practice offers are great. You can schedule patients, use it for med records, and billing.

Cons:

Using the features is impossible! I had simple practice for several years and the billing was always messed up, plus it’s very expensive if you have a certain number of claims. If a patient has multiple coverages it is very hard to manage. I could never use the invoices feature because the billing was always incorrect which made the invoices all incorrect. The documents and forms were too difficult to figure out. The only feature that worked well and was easy to use was scheduling. I finally found a different software that was much easier.

Increase Pricing - Lack of Increasing Features - Horrible Customer Support

1.0 6 months ago

Comments: Horrible. Everything about SimplePractice was a nightmare.

Pros:

Nothing. I would not recommend this platform at all.

Cons:

Increase pricing. Not actively adding requested, or promised features (such as direct support for group sessions). Lack of customer focus and support.

Incredible Therapy Management

4.0 last year

Comments: SimplePractice abides by its name - it makes scheduling appointments, maintaining records, and client management incredibly easy, all in one app!

Pros:

SimplePractice has, in short, been an incredible tool for our team as we branch into human-therapy in addition to our animal therapy.

Cons:

I actually do not feel there is very much that we dislike at all. We've found it to be an immensely valuable asset to our team.

Very Helpful But Some Issues

5.0 2 years ago

Comments: Overall, I haven't beaten the features of SimplePractice for my therapy business, but there are some glitches.

Pros:

The ease of using SimplePractice is fairly high, the scheduling effective and the billing a relatively simple process (with a couple of issues, as you'll see in the cons). Typically, the video quality is fairly decent and the ability to drag and drop appointments is great.

Cons:

The billing. When you have a new client, you are automatically set to "cash" instead of the card they have on their account. If you accidentally proceed (because efficiency is great!) and falsely state that the client made a cash payment, it is NOT user friendly on how to delete that payment and resubmit via card. I have to look up how to do it every time. I think my primary complaint is that in a lot of ways, the interface for billing is not intuitive and often can take a while to sort through. Also, clients have to have the app downloaded prior to sessions in order to attend via cell phone, though they are texted a link.
